In-Game Ads Not Very Profitable for EA

Though gamers have learned to live with a little in-game advertising , sometimes it can be a little overzealous (Madden 11, anyone?). However, the era of the in-game advertisements may be coming to an end as EA’s Ben Cousin’s has recently revealed that, “We actually aren’t getting much from ad revenue at all.”


Instead of putting more in-game advertisements, it seems the folks at EA are looking towards the micro-transactions model for additional revenue, as it has proven to be quite successful in the free-to-play title Battlefield Heroes.
