Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be unlike most other Final Fantasys you have experienced so far. It will have a more action-centered battle system that allows you to move freely around the battlefield. It will have a static countdown clock that ticks down toward the final confrontation of the game. It will even allow you to customize your abilities and outfits to your liking. Now, yet another feature is breaking the mold of Final Fantasys past: social media.
Lightning Returns will be fully integrated with many social-media platforms. Players will be able to share updates on their game progress to both Twitter and Facebook. When players defeat game bosses or complete important events in the game, updates will be sent to your social networks along with your score for any boss encounters. This, strangely enough, takes games back to the old days of the arcade, where every game had a score, even if its genre didn’t call for one. Perhaps this is where gaming is going in the future, a sort of virtual arcade space on social networking platforms.
