Mario Maker Gets New Features and Powerups

Mario Maker Gets New Features and Powerups

We always said that the thing keeping Mario Maker from being great is a lack of features. When the game was first revealed, it only had the ability to place Mario Bros. 1 features, items, and enemies in a stage, which wouldn’t really be enough to keep the game alive. However, a recent trailer from the Game Awards shows that Mario Maker now has many more features than that.

In addition to the power leaf, which will give Mario the power of flight once more, blocksets from Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World have been added. This includes some features from those games including giant enemies, spinning blocks, and more. Heck, even the Super Mario Bros. 3 end stage with the symbol roulette on a black background has been added.

In addition, it appears as if you can make stage elements interact in new ways. Want to make a cannon fire out coins? You can do that. Want your Paratroopas to fire out lasers? You can do that too! Want power-up blocks to spawn enemies? You can do that too! Mario can now ride in a Lakitu cloud, and we can only hope he will soon be able to ride in a Kuriboh Shoe!

Now we are just waiting for Yoshi. Come on Nintendo! You are almost there.
