Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut DLC Coming Next Week

Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut DLC Coming Next Week

None

BioWare has announced that Mass Effect 3’s much-anticipated Extended Cut DLC will be released worldwide next Tuesday, on June 26, save for European PS3 owners, who’ll get the content on July 4.

The DLC, which expands upon and attempts to clarify the sci-fi shooter’s highly controversial ending, will be dropped as a free download for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

In BioWare’s words, the download will “expand on the endings of Mass Effect 3 through additional scenes and epilogue sequences.” Disheartened ME3 players be warned though, the DLC merely wishes to provide “more answers and closure” to their particular Shepard’s decision, not to change the ending entirely.

BioWare first announced the DLC back in April, following the sizable fan backlash against the franchise’s conclusion. Then, angered players claimed that the ending sabotaged BioWare’s initial promise of ensuring player choice would define how their personal story would conclude. Whether or not Extended Cut will alleviate those fans’ ire is still to be decided, but it appears we’ll find out once and for all next Tuesday.
