Minecraft Franchise Hits 17.5 Million Sales

Minecraft Franchise Hits 17.5 Million Sales

Minecraft is easily one of the most popular titles of all time. Who would have thought that building with LEGOs while constantly being hunted by exploding lizards would be so much fun?

According to Mojang developer Johan Bernhardsson, Minecraft Pocket Edition has just sold five million copies. This pushes the franchise past a whopping 17.5 million copies sold. The PC and Mac versions of the game have sold 8.3 million copies, making the computer Minecraft’s primary home, while the Xbox 360 version comes in last at 4.48 million copies sold.

And the game continues to be supported by its developers even to this day. The PC version of Minecraft continues to get brand new functionality, materials, mobs, and more, while the pocket and Xbox 360 versions of the game are well on their way to catching up with the PC version.

And sales are still going strong. If things continue as they are Minecraft may be one of the few games to have ever broken the coveted 20 Million mark. Congratulations Minecraft!
