Need for Speed Arena Trademarked

Need for Speed Arena Trademarked

A famous face could be preparing to race to consoles again. Trademark databases have often been a means of finding out about games before companies are ready to announce them, and we can thank the European Union Intellectual Property Office for offering a glimmer of hope for racing fans. Need for Speed could be coming back, as a trademark for Need for Speed Arena has been filed for video game software. Especially interesting is a note that states it would relate to an online game.

The last Need for Speed game was… well… Need for Speed . Ghost Games and EA rebooted the series in 2015. Which was a pretty good idea, since there had been 21 games in the series before it. It wasn’t super well received, but Ghost Games kept supporting it with updates up through April 2016. It also promised a new game in 2017.

Which would fall right in line with this filing. The trademarks would be filed now. There could be an announcement maybe around or before E3 2017. It’d be followed by November Need for Speed Arena release, to follow the tradition set with Need for Speed: Most Wanted, Need for Speed Rivals, Need for Speed, and most other entries in the series.
