Did you look at the New 3DS XL and think, “Nope! Not for me!” Well, there’s another model that may make you change your mind. The standard-sized New 3DS, previously only available in Japan, Europe, and Australia, will be getting a North American release alongside Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer this month. A Zelda -themed version will be released in October. Faceplates for everyone!
That is the main draw of this particular model. Like the New 3DS XL, the New 3DS has a circle nub, uses microSD cards for memory, has improved 3D functionality, and works with NFC figures. The only difference is it can use interchangeable faceplates.
The New 3DS will be available on September 25 for $220. It will come in a bundle that includes a download of Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer , two Animal Crossing themed faceplates, and an amiibo card. If you don’t want a game bundle and can hold off a month, you can also pick up a Zelda Edition New 3DS XL for $200. It’s a GameStop exclusive that goes on sale October 30. If you’ve been waiting to upgrade your old 3DS, maybe the time is right.
