New Microsoft Studio Hiring for “Beloved Strategy Franchise”

It’s recently come to our attention that Microsoft opened up new games studio specifically for developing strategy games for both Windows and Xbox. Detailed in a job application, the new developer, dubbed as Decisive Games, will apparently be “focused on world class strategy game development.” Moreover, it’s teased that the studio will bring “the next installment in a beloved strategy game franchise” to gamers around the globe.

According to the job ad itself, the Decisive Games team is a “ highly-collaborative, agile team, with a play-centric approach to game development. ” The studio is looking for a senior software engineer to take into its ranks, who will have to contribute to solving engineering problem as well as being a jack-of-all-trades as well as. The job description also details that applicants will also have to deal with “ client-side rendering and UI development.”

Applicants are required to be familiar with rendering APIs for Xbox One and Xbox 360, and with DirectX 11. Two years of C++ programming experience is also sought after, with a focus on networking, algorithms and optimization. Furthermore, those interested in taking the job will have to be able to understand the hardware rendering pipeline. They also must have shipped at least one game.

Whatever Decisive Games’ project will be, it’ll release on both Xbox consoles and on PC. Since the young studio is affiliated with Microsoft, speculation could point that the “beloved strategy franchise” could be Age of Empires , as the electronics giant still owns the IP, and the franchise itself has been published by Microsoft since the its first release in the late 90s.
