Nintendo Might Not Publish Devil’s Third in North America (Updated)

Nintendo Might Not Publish Devil’s Third in North America (Updated)

Update, July 7: Nintendo of America has tweeted that it is “excited to bring [ Devil’s Third ] to Wii U and will have more to share soon.” Though not full confirmation that the game is coming to North America, this could be seen as an attempt to dispel this rumor.

The Devil’s Third , the newest project from Ninja Gaiden designer Tomonobu Itagaki, may not be published in North America. According to known leaker Unseen 64, Nintendo has no plans to publish the title at all and is not backing it in any way. Considering how ultra-violent the title is supposed to be, I’m not surprised. It also makes sense considering we did not see the game at E3 this year.

But why is Nintendo really distancing itself from The Devil’s Third ? Well apparently it just isn’t very good. According to Gamespot, the frame rate is inconsistent and the graphics are horrible.

For now, this is just a rumor, as Nintendo has not confirmed or denied its abandonment of The Devil’s Third . However, the company has abandoned games before. Disaster: Day of Crisis was a game developed by Monolith Soft that was originally meant to receive Nintendo publishing support, and later received none.

Note that even if Nintendo does abandon The Devil’s Third , a third party publisher could pick it up and release it in North American territories. We will bring you more information on this story as it develops.
