Nintendo’s Wii U Will Be At CES

Nintendo’s Wii U Will Be At CES

None

If you’re anxious to get a peek at Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U console, you may want to pick up a couple of tickets for this year’s Consumer Electronics Show in January. However, if you got a chance to see Nintendo’s presentation at last summer’s E3, don’t get too excited for this showing.

“Nintendo of America, working with the 2012 International CES management, will offer demos of the upcoming Wii U console to members of the media who did not see the system at the 2011 E3 Expo,” a Nintendo representative told Game Informer. “However, Nintendo will not have a booth at CES, nor does it plan to include any games, experiences, or information beyond what was available at the 2011 E3 Expo.”

CES typically has 140,000+ attendees, so it’s not surprising that Nintendo would take a more private approach. Historically, they have skipped CES, concentrating instead on gaming conferences like E3, but it seems like they’re having a change of heart. This is probably a good thing, considering that both Microsoft and Sony have typically made an appearance, and Nintendo needs to hit the ground running when they release the system next year.

“Production and development efforts remain on track for the Wii U launch,” the representative continued, “which will take place between the start of the 2012 E3 Expo in June, and the end of 2012.”
