NX Controllers May Feature Motion Control, Advanced Haptics

If the rumors are to be believed, September is the month of NX. The same article that correctly predicted the PlayStation Meeting also suggested that Nintendo may finally reveal its next home console the week of September 12. The anticipation is reaching fever pitch as rumors continue to trickle ever so slowly. Our latest juicy morsel of speculation comes to us from Let’s Play Video Games’ Laura Dale, who has made some pretty interesting claims about the detachable controllers said to bookend the handheld NX unit.

According to Dale’s sources, the NX controllers have motion control capabilities similar in scope to the Wii’s Motion Plus controller. They also sport a form of advanced haptic feedback. Her source claims the vibration features are “very similar to the Vive controller, in that it alters intensity, pulsing patterns and duration of vibration to mimic the sensation of a range of different movement types. It’s not just one vibration for all situations, there’s a notable difference between the hard abrupt feedback of a sword clash or the softer, longer thud of something like hitting a tennis ball.”

The NX controllers are intended to initiate the phasing out of Nintendo’s Wii remotes, but your old Wiimote will still be usable in a few future titles. According to LPVG, Just Dance 2017 will be one of those games. They sound very capable indeed! As soon as we learn more, we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
