PGA Tour 12 Cover Doesn’t Feature Tiger Woods

PGA Tour 12 Cover Doesn’t Feature Tiger Woods

None

Sure, Tiger Woods will have a prominent role in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters. The game is named after him, after all. But Tiger is nowhere to be found on the box art for the game. A close examination of the art reveals a golfer who, from the back, bears an uncanny resemblance to Tiger, but EA Sports has reassured us that it is not actually him.

Even the words “Tiger Woods PGA Tour” are diminished by the Masters banner and giant yellow flag that take up a good portion of the cover.

It makes sense that EA Sports would want to re-brand the series after the sex scandal broke in late 2009, and 2010 brought very disappointing sales for PGA Tour 11. Whether or not the low sales are a direct result of the scandal, EA Sports is taking a safer marketing approach this year.

PGA Tour 12 releases in North America on March 29 and worldwide on April 1. It will be available on all three major consoles.
