SEGA has announced that North American and European gamers will be able to finally get their hands on Phantasy Star Online 2 when it launches on early next year. The free-to-play multiplayer action RPG, a sequel to 2001’s original Phantasy Star Online for the Dreamcast, initially released for PC in Japan on July 4. “The number one thing we want to provide players in Phantasy Star Online 2 is an adventure that changes every time they log in,” said PSO 2 Producer Satoshi Sakai. “Just as great table-top RPG experiences revolve around imaginative and unexpected encounters, we want players to consistently be surprised as they explore dungeons and undertake quests.” “Phantasy Star Online was a revolutionary game when it was released, and we want to make sure that its successor in the series is every bit as ambitious,” added SEGA of America VP of Digital Business Chris Olson.
