PlayStation Europe has confirmed that the newest update for the PS4 will be dropping on Wednesday, April 30 th . The new update will mark the release of SHAREfactory, a native PS4 based video editing suite. This will allow users to perform simple cuts and basic edits in their videos, as well as allowing them to save their captured videos to a separate drive for, say, editing on a computer.
Another new feature will allow users to turn off HDCP in order to use their own capture device of choice, instead of the PlayStation 4’s native video capture. In short, this update seems mostly geared toward content creators that are playing PS4 games and uploading their footage to Youtube. The only new feature that does not have to do with video capture, is the ability to preload games purchased digitally off of the PlayStation store.
