It’s time to charge up your controllers and call in sick to work, as Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark hits both the PS3 and PS4 today!
Edge of Reality’s Greg John recently posted an update to the PlayStation.Blog, touting the title’s release. Here, he offers up new plot details which have previously been kept under wraps (hyping it will incorporate elements of both the previous game franchise and the new feature film about to hit theaters). “…we’re bridging past and present this time around, linking the dark days of the war for Cybertron…with the live-action films of Paramount Pictures and Hasbro…A new villain will emerge in the game and in the upcoming film Transformers: Age of Extinction …Meanwhile, Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark gives you the chance to explore more of Cybertron’s ancient history, delving deeper into the Sea of Rust to raid the tombs of the planet’s Golden Era, whose dark secrets and treasures are kept safe by the Crystal Guardians.” Said John.
To say this game is yet another in a series of nostalgic overloads would be an understatement. The G1 iterations (that returns leader Optimus Prime to his glory days of the Saturday morning cartoon for example) are no doubt something hardcore fans are looking forward to. However, the sheer number of familiar faces in this game’s roster is also staggering. In the updated Escalation mode, we’ll see the likes of “…Cliffjumper, Jazz, Quake, Warpath, Ironhide, Ultra Magnus, Zeta Prime, Perceptor, Wheeljack, Scattershot, Demolisher…three Insecticons, five Combaticons, four Dinobots, three Stunticons, three Aerialbots, TWO versions of Bumblebee, and THREE unique versions of Optimus Prime.” With this kind of selection, any fan should find at least one Transformer that tickles their fancy!
