Earlier in the morning headlines were breaking that Nintendo had registered trademarks for a new Pokemon game in Europe. You can go here and search for Pokemon Sun or Pokemon Moon and find the listings for yourself, complete with some nifty logos which have been making the rounds. The headlines spread like wildfire, as Nintendo is hosting a Pokemon -themed Direct tomorrow morning, and it would be the perfect time to announce a new game.
Soon after we lost our minds in the hype of it all, there came a tweet from the “Nintendo of America” Twitter account confirming Pokemon Sun / Moon for the 3DS, which several sites linked as official. I myself took the tweet for granted, and only later did I notice that the Twitter handle was “@NinlendoAmerica.” That’s right, Poke-people, the tweet was fake. Almost everyone is expecting a Sun and Moon announcement tomorrow, though. We’ll be tuning into the Direct bright and early, so check back tomorrow and we’ll bring you all of the exciting announcements.
Editor’s Update: Since writing, Nintendo has also registered several web domains for Pokemon Sun and Moon. Still no official confirmation, but that’s probably as close as we’ll get before tomorrow’s Direct.
