Postal is a 1997 isometric shooter developed by Running with Scissors and published by Ripcord Games. The game was originally released on PC, although an Android version was eventually developed years later, in 2015.
For the most part, reviews of Postal were mixed. It currently holds a Metacritic of 56, with the main criticism being the lack of longevity in the gameplay. But the big question is – are there any Postal cheat codes? Let’s dive in and find out.
Postal Premise
Postal‘s isometric gameplay puts you in the shoes of one character, who must fight their way through multiple levels killing everything in sight. The main objective is to kill a set percentage of armed enemies, although there are several unarmed people in each level that you can choose to kill, too. Once you’ve killed most of the armed NPCs, you can finally move on to the next section.
To achieve your goals, the game has a total of eight weapon slots, filled with a varied arsenal. Each weapon is designed to change the game experience, as the game otherwise doesn’t have a ton of replayability. You’ll be dealing with a bunch of different enemies. Some will shoot at you, others will lob Molotovs in your direction – so you’ll need to choose the right weapon for the job.
One underrated feature of Postal is its inclusion of LAN multiplayer. You can jump on with a friend to cause chaos in co-op, or play Deathmatch, which supports up to 16 players in total.
Postal Main Characters
The story of Postal isn’t exactly complex. One guy goes postal, and tries to kill everybody in sight. That’s the gist of it, at least. Because of this, there is only one character in the entirety of Postal, and the rest of the NPCs are disposable drones for the killing.
Still, here’s everything you need to know about the main protagonist of Postal:
- Postal Dude: After Postal Dude is evicted from his house, he’s convinced it is the fault of the U.S. Air Force, releasing an airborne agent into his town, which he is completely unaffected by. Because of this, he goes on a murderous rampage throughout the town as he fights his way to the Air Force Base. Postal Dude hears a voice in his head throughout the course of the game, which prompts him to continue his spree of murders. It is implied toward the end of the game that his killing is the direct result of his own delusions.
Postal Titles in the Series
Postal remains one of the most controversial video game series of all time. The original game was released when video games were moving into the 3D era, as graphical fidelity was finally starting to improve at a rapid rate. As a result, the “video games cause violence” crowd was louder than ever.
To then release a series about “going postal,” where the objective is nothing but sheer violence was always going to cause controversy. Even still, it was a sleeper hit amongst gamers, spawning multiple sequels. While they never really found a huge audience, it was enough to turn them into cult classics. Postal 2 in particular has the best reputation, with its satirical tone a stark contrast to the dark, serious original.
The most recent release in the series, Postal 4: No Regrets, received largely negative critical reception from fans and critics alike. It was supposed to be a comeback moment for the franchise, but sadly, it may have buried it for the foreseeable future. Hopefully, another attempt will be made at some point in the future when the right idea is on the table.

What is the Invincibility Cheat for Postal?
How Do I Unlock the Secret Weapons in Postal?
So, there are two weapons in Postal that can only be unlocked through the use of cheats – the Double-Barreled Shotgun and the Death Wad. For this, even the “GIMMEDAT” cheat which gives you all items doesn’t work.
If you want to use the invincibility cheat in Postal, there’s only really one option available to you. During gameplay, enter “IAMSOLAME” which enables God Mode. Sure, the developers are insulting you a little by having you type that, but we’re afraid that it’s the price you pay for invincibility. This cheat will obviously make the game much easier, but if you just want to kick back and take out your frustrations without worrying about death in-game, it can be extremely useful.
Instead, you can enter the cheats “BREAKYOSAK” and “DAWHOLEENCHILADA” to unlock the two secret weapons.
