Powers Has Been Cancelled

Powers Has Been Cancelled

Did you watch Powers, the TV show based on the Marvel comic series only available via the PlayStation Store? If the answer is no, then you’re probably part of the problem. After two seasons, it’s been cancelled. I hope you enjoyed all 20 episodes, because that’s probably all we’re going to get. Brian Michael Bendis confirmed the cancellation yesterday on Twitter , saying season two is the last “for now.”

Which is a shame, because Powers had an interesting premise. It followed Christian Walker, a former superhero who used to have the ability to fly, and his partner Deena Pilgrim. The two were detectives in a Powers Division, which investigated homicides and other crimes involving people who have superpowers. But hey, at least you can see both seasons for $25 each via the PlayStation Store if you aren’t a PlayStation Plus member or for free if you are!

I wonder if this is another sign that the comic book media trend is on the outs? Suicide Squad and Batman vs. Superman both haven’t been the best received movies. The most recent X-Men movie didn’t exactly soar. And now Powers is gone? Doesn’t seem like the best series of signs. Then again, this could just be due to Powers being a PlayStation Store exclusive, which had to limit its potential audience.
