Rockstar Games, in its usual theatrical fashion, has released a new trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2 . The story is set in the American “heartland,” an old term referring to, generally, parts of the Union not touching water or much of the Louisiana Purchase. The trailer introduces the world and characters of the game. We get to meet Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang, a group of outlaws fighting and stealing to survive.
The trailer shows off the game’s current-generation chops in various clips from cutscenes, as we see all manner of context-free, dramatic dialogue snips and action sequences. The story feels busier than the first game’s and is visually much darker.
Red Dead Redemption II was originally announced as coming this fall, but was delayed earlier in the year to Spring 2018. Rockstar’s website for the game also hints at an online multiplayer component, which the first game did not have.
