OMG, OMG, OMG… [*Squealing like a tween*]. Nintendo Power confirms the development of Red Steel 2. Months ago, Ubisoft let it be known that their Wii-exclusive, launch franchise, Red Steel, would likely get a reboot. Little did we know just how different the series would be! According to the latest issue of Nintendo Power, as picked up on by Joystiq, Red Steel 2 may be making its way to the Wild West. Don’t worry; swordplay will still be a core portion of the title, as katanas will be infused with cowboys. Moreover, instead of the less-than-impressive control scheme featured in the original, Red Steel 2 will take full advantage of the Wii MotionPlus peripheral – the add-on dongle for the Wii Remote that detects motion 1:1. Whether the Wild West of the late 19 th century is depicted in the game, or whether a more steampunk-like vision will be used, is still up in the air. Stay tuned for more!
