If you haven’t been keeping up with the story of Dashcon, boy do we have a tale for you. This convention, meant to be the “tumblr version of Vidcon” (for those of you who don’t know, Vidcon is a convention where YouTube video creators and fans can get together to celebrate the craft) Dashcon (named after the My Little Pony character Rainbow Dash) was a brand new con that… basically failed. In the middle of the convention, the runners of Dashcon herded everyone into a room and said they needed to pay seventeen thousand dollars to retain the rights to stay at the hotel. Not only that, but all the big guests at the con, like Welcome to Night Vale, had walked. On the upside, people got some extra time in an inflatable ball pit and bouncy castle. Oh yeah… someone totally pissed in that ballpit.
In short, it was a big scam. Everyone affiliated with the convention has said that the claims of Dashcon are lies. The hotel denied giving them that ultimatum. So a bunch of tumblr kids are out of a lot of money for no good reason. It’s a shame.
But at least you can experience the wonder yourself with the brand new Dashcon Simulator over at Kongregate. Move over Goat Simulator , this game has your number. Just, be careful not to spend too much time in the ball pit. That’s extra paid DLC.
