A few days ago, NPD Group released their monthly numbers, revealing the ten best-selling games of last month. Resistance 3 came in at number seven, but this doesn’t mean it sold particularly well. It sold only 180,000 units in the United Stated during September. That’s pretty low when you consider franchises like Call of Duty sell millions of copies in their first week alone. Resistance even had its own nice little cushion of buffer space between competing shooter releases. Deus Ex: Human Revolution released two weeks earlier while Gears of War 3 released two weeks later. Now, Resistance 2 was the ninth best-selling game in its first month, so you might be tempted to say it did worse than Resistance 3. However, it actually sold 385,000 units that month. The problem: it was going up against Call of Duty: World at War, Gears of War 2, and Left 4 Dead.
