RUMOR: Criterion To Make Another Open World Racer?

RUMOR: Criterion To Make Another Open World Racer?

None

Criterion Games is the studio that developed Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and the Burnout series. So they are no strangers to putting the pedal to the metal and burning rubber all over the track. But now it appears as if they want to rev their engines in a wider environment.

A recent post on the Criterion Blog revealed that the company currently has several positions open. They are looking for “innovative programmers” that “Deliver killer entertainment experiences with “believable open world A.I. Racing Drivers.” It also said that Criterion was looking to expand its team in order to develop for new platforms.

The key phrases there are “open world” and “new platforms.” The last open world racing game we saw was Burnout: Paradise, and it’s possible that an upcoming Burnout title could be open world as well. In addition, “new platforms” could mean next-generation consoles, but it also could mean handhelds like the 3DS or the PS Vita. Either way, it appears as if Criterion Studios is cooking up something big.

We will give you more information on this project when it becomes available. Until then, if you are an aspiring programmer or software engineer, you might as well fill out an application.
