Can you believe we’ve spent over two decades with the PlayStation console already? That’s a life time in both the real and gaming worlds, where children have literally been born and then trotted off to college (with the PlayStation platform severing as the backdrop of it all).
To mark the occasion, Sony is doing two very interesting things. The first is the release of a 20 th Anniversary PS4 console that is themed in the colors of the original PSone system from 1994 (gamers will note the original startup sound is present). Sony’s Worldwide Studios Present Shuhei Yoshida took to the PlayStation.Blog to thank fans for their support all these years (even in the face of those who doubted Sony would be successful in the first place). “…many outsiders thought that Sony was slightly crazy to launch the original PlayStation into an incredibly competitive gaming market. Who could blame them? Sony was (and is!) famous for engineering great electronics, audio equipment, and many other consumer devices. But game consoles?! We sincerely thank you for joining us on our exciting 20-year journey. You have made every bump and scrape we took along the way worthwhile. And there’s so much more to come!” touted Yoshida.
