Spotify’s Sticking With PlayStation

Spotify’s Sticking With PlayStation

Wondering if the Xbox One’s background music is going to support Spotify? Well, it looks like the answer is no. While the console will offer background music after its summer update rolls out, an official notice from Spotify confirms it won’t be the service supplying it. It’s dedicated to Sony.

Spotify itself confirmed the news via Twitter . It’s been Sony’s partner, supplying background music and streaming for the PlayStation 4 since 2015. The exact response was, “Right now we’re focused on our exclusive partnership with PlayStation.” It has no updates on any other systems. After the Sony and Spotify deal was announced, no end date was announced.

This means we still don’t know exactly what service could be teaming up with Microsoft for Xbox One’s musical options. Groove Music seems most likely, since it is a Microsoft service. Maybe there could be Pandora support? With Spotify out, there really aren’t that many other options.
