Star Fox Zero not Taking Off until 2016

Bad news for Wii U owners. You’ll have to make the most of Splatoon , Super Mario Maker , and Xenoblade Chronicles X this year, because Star Fox Zero has been delayed. Instead of coming out in winter 2015, it will release in the first quarter of 2016.

Shigeru Miyamoto issued a statement regarding the delay. His exact words were, “Although we felt that the development had been progressing well, we now believe that we will need a little more time to work on areas such as the unprecedented discovery that we want players to experience in the game by using two screens, and further polishing the level designs and perfecting the tone of the cut scenes. While we have already reached the stage where it would be technically possible to release the title in time for the year-end holiday season, we want to polish the game a bit more so that players will be able to more smoothly grasp the new style of play that we are proposing.” Essentially, Star Fox Zero needed a little more polish, and a few extra months should help result in a better finished product. Considering Nintendo’s quality control, such a move isn’t unexpected.

No word on if this means the Falco amiibo will also be delayed.
