Street Fighter TV Series in the Works

Street Fighter TV Series in the Works

A report from Deadline Hollywood is alleging that distribution and production company Entertainment One is working with Joey Ansah and Christian Howard, the creators of popular web series Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist, to develop the IP into a full TV series. This is happening with the involvement and support of Street Fighter developer and publisher Capcom.

The TV series will be based on the basic story of Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior , which is the first version of that game. Likely pointing this out means later characters, such as Cammy and Fei Long, won’t be included in the story. World Warrior had a much smaller cast than the series has now, but popular characters like Guile and Chun-Li will probably appear alongside Ken and Ryu.

The original Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist was a 12-part web series that focuses on Ken and Ryu, and was initially a Kickstarter project. The crowdfunding campaign, however, was cancelled after the creators found private funding. The series was successful, and it is now available on multiple platforms.
