TERA: The First Hit Is Now Free

TERA: The First Hit Is Now Free

TERA Online is an MMORPG that distinguishes itself from the masses by being all about hitting things. Most MMOs involve hitting, shooting, or casting spells at enemies, true, but TERA makes its combat the centerpiece of the experience in a way that has never quite been done before. It feels solid and satisfying, responsive and action-packed. A legitimately good player can take on a far more powerful foe by using their head and playing evasively, which is, for many, a far more engaging prospect than tapping number keys and watching a pair of health bars bounce up and down, hoping that the enemy’s is the first to empty out.

Now, you can see for yourself if TERA is your cup of tea. En Masse Entertainment is offering a seven-day free trial to interested parties. It’s limited in that progression is capped at level 23, but players who enjoy it enough to want to keep going can continue with the characters they create during their trial. The decision need not be immediate; those who decide to hold off will still have their characters stored, and may return to them later if they decide to purchase the full game.

Also, in an interesting twist, there’s a playable demo that involves no download or installation. It consists of the game’s prologue and is estimated to take about half an hour. Kudos to En Masse for trying something different.
