The Drop List 12-06-10

None

As the holidays get closer, the release list thins out considerably, and this week marks the last week of 2010 to see a major release. Fortunately, that single release is kind-of a big deal, and will certainly last massively multiplayer gamers through the winter’s game drought. World of Warcraft: Cataclysm arrives in stores on Tuesday, and as the third major expansion to the WOW MMO, there are tons of new features for fans to be excited about. Chief among these is the 3,500 new quests to partake in, a raised level cap (characters can now reach level 85), and a new story involving Deathwing the Dragon, who has not been seen in the series since Warcraft II. Exciting stuff!

Warcraft fans are the only ones with a highly-anticipated release this week. If you are a fan of light-cycles and punk music, TRON: Evolution arrives on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PSP this week, along with TRON Evolution: Battle Grids for the Wii. And if you’re in the mood for more movie-based games, Yogi Bear is also coming to the Wii.

Rounding out this week’s releases is Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Dual Transer which is like the Gran Turismo of Yu-Gi-Oh! games and includes over 4,500 playable cards. However, unlike Yu-Gi-Oh!’s last outing on the Wii (and Gran Turismo…surprisingly), there will be no kart races. Sad, I know.

And that’s it for this week! Sure, the release list is thin, but there are a few titles for niche gamers here, and honestly, I can’t think of any franchise that would want to take on the behemoth that is WOW. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to get back to grinding and maxing out my stats in anticipation.
