The Hobbit Films To Receive Two Tie-In Games

Peter Jackson’s upcoming The Hobbit film trilogy will be getting two accompanying free-to-play games from Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and social developer Kabam, the two companies revealed today.

Kabam will develop two multiplayer strategy games scheduled to launch sometime this fall: The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle-earth for mobile devices, and The Hobbit: Armies of the Third Age for browsers. Players will be able to sign up for the latter’s beta starting September 25.

Kingdoms of Middle-earth will task players with building their own, well, kingdoms of Middle-earth , while Armies of the Third Age will put players in the shoes of such characters as Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf the Grey in strategic army combat.
