In theHunter: Call of the Wild, the core gameplay involves the hunting of 82 different animals in a variety of hunting reserves across the world. The game prides itself on realism, meaning you’ll have to consider everything from scents carried by the wind, animal behavior, weather patterns, day and night cycles, and other true-to-life considerations when hunting.
The title offers a sizable selection of weapons, ammo, and equipment to choose from. However, to have any meaningful success in the game, matching the correct equipment loadout to the targeted prey is essential. While this does tend to make the game more complex, it also provides an added layer of realism and strategy.
Following a successful hunt, players can take various prizes from each animal type and display them in a Trophy Lodge, showing off the spoils of victory. Further, players can tour the Trophy Lodge of fellow hunters in the game’s online mode that supports up to 8 players. Developer Expansive Worlds is also continually adding new animals and locations to theHunter, introducing regular opportunities for new challenges.
theHunter: Call of the Wild Main Characters
Unfortunately, theHunter: Call of the Wild has no story to speak of – gameplay is the focus here. This means that the only actual character in the game is the titular Hunter, who serves as the player’s avatar throughout the experience. Players can customize The Hunter to their liking, with several options available in terms of gender, appearance, and more.
The player’s avatar is a silent protagonist and never speaks, and the nature of the game means we generally never get to see them express any part of their personality. Essentially, they’re a blank slate, so players looking for heavy character development won’t find it here. That said, the Vurhonga Savanna DLC gave some insight into The Hunter’s family, although that information holds little bearing on the gameplay.
