Ubisoft Announces Ubisoft Club

I’m not a huge fan of Ubisoft. Its games are great, but the fact that I have to play them through UPlay is a big pain in the rear end, and I’m not the only one who feels that way. If the Ubisoft Club were actually replacing UPlay, I’d be very excited about this announcement.

What is the Ubisoft Club? Basically it’s a cross-platform rewards service very similar to the one Ubisoft already has in place. Ubisoft wants to reward gamers for playing its games by offering them XP, badges, and units, which you can think of as currency. These rewards can potentially unlock extra in-game content, grant access to betas, and unlock some discounts in the Ubisoft store. If you have the Starbucks app on your phone you know how this works. If you spend enough money at Starbucks, you’ll unlock sporadic offers enticing you to go spend more money at Starbucks.
