Ubisoft “Concentrating” on Assassin’s Creed: Origins

Ubisoft “Concentrating” on Assassin’s Creed: Origins

During a routine earnings call, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot fielded an interesting question about the near future of the Assassin’s Creed series. The uncertainty on display at the moment is tied to the once annual nature of the series, and how the success of Assassin’s Creed: Origins compared to its near predecessors affects that, if at all.

When asked if Assassin’s Creed would go back to annual releases, Guillemot said that Ubisoft is currently focuses just on Assassin’s Creed: Origins . He speaks to upcoming DLC releases, and said that “you will be amazed by what will come on AC: O .” No further details were provided, of course.

It is worth noting that Ubisoft and Guillemot appear to be directly pointing to the company taking extra times with its big games to their more recent success. Guillemot said that with more time for polish, Ubisoft has been able to release three games since August that have all been well-received. Potentially, keeping games like Rainbow Six: Siege and The Division going and generating money over time is allowing more breathing room for its bigger, less service-oriented games.
