Videogames officially aren’t addictive

None

The American Medical Association has officially decided that videogame addiction is not classifiable as a mental disorder, although they have opted to continue researching the problem to find a classification.

The AMA has been researching claims from experts that believe that videogame addiction is similar to drug or alcohol addiction, although the medical field is divided in this issue.  After concluding that videogame addiction isn’t a mental disorder, the American Medical Association has decided to continue their investigation over the next five years so that they can decide whether the condition will be included in the 2012 Medical Manual and how it will be classified.

We’ll keep you posted on news as it becomes available.
