Nintendo has officially announced that they have shipped Pokemon Battle Revolution for the Wii. This is a big title for a number of reasons, including being the first Pokemon game for the Wii as well as the first Wii title to link wirelessly to the DS. However, the biggest news for gamers is that Battle Revolution explores new frontiers for the Wii, as it is the first title to utilize Wi-Fi online play.
Nintendo has been criticized for their lack on online play with the Gamecube, which largely ignored exploring online play to focus on connectivity with the GameBoy Advance and later the DS. Battle Revolution’s online play represents a huge step forward for Nintendo fans, who have watched Sony and especially Microsoft thrive using online play.
