Sega has released some information revealing what their characters will be up to in the upcoming PS3 title, Yakuza 5 . Here is what we know so far:
Kazuma Kiryu , the lead protagonist of the previous games, has escaped the hustle and bustle of life in Tokyo and now lives out his days as a normal, run-of-the-mill taxi driver. It appears that he can’t totally escape his old life, though, and will be dragged back into the thick of things.
Taiga Saejima is a Yakuza enforcer with a 25 year sentence for allegedly murdering 18 members of a rival gang. In this game, he has been re-incarcerated and only wishes to peacefully serve out his sentence.
Haruka Sawramura is 16 years old and working hard in Osaka to realize her dream of celebrity. Currently, she is a finalist in the Princess League, a competition between up and coming stars. She is begining to realize the perils and underhandedness of the entertainment industry.
Shun Akiyama is a dubious money lender who asks clients to pass a rigorous test before he offers them a loan. Things seem to be going well for him until he receives news of the untimely death of a former client.
Tatsuo Shinada had an easy life going for him as a major league Baseball player until he was banned for gambling and game fixing. Now he makes ends meet as a writer for adult entertainment.
There is still no official release date for Yakuza 5, so there’s no way of telling when fans will be able to catch up with these characters. But, according to Sega, development is wrapping up nicely and we should know more soon.
