Yakuza: Like a Dragon Will Roar in 2020

Yakuza: Like a Dragon Will Roar in 2020

Sega’s Yakuza series has been huge for the company both in and out of Japan, with even its Judgment spin-off doing very well. Even though the storyline for Kazuma Kiryu, the original hero, ended, a new one is stepping up. But, he’s not just stepping up in Japan. Yakuza: Like a Dragon , the seventh installment in the series, will be released worldwide in 2020.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon will appear in Japan first. It will show up there on January 16, 2020. Sometime after that, it will come to both the Americas and Europe. There’s no window for the localized releases yet.

Since Kiryu is gone, Yakuza: Like a Dragon follows a whole new hero. Ichiban Kasuga is still a member of the Tojo Clan, but he’s a part of the Arakawa Family. Kasuga went to prison for 18 years, pleading guilty to crimes Jo Sawashiro committed. When he got out, everything had changed. No one was waiting for him, the Omi Alliance runs Kamurocho, and his old boss who asked him to take the fall changed everything and tries to kill him. He wakes up in Isezaki Ijincho, Yokohama, determined to find out what’s going on.

Interestingly, Yakuza: Like a Dragon will also shake up gameplay. Instead of being a beat’em up, it will be more like an RPG. The original entries had RPG elements, like building up stats and picking skill trees. However, this game will actually be a turn-based RPG, complete with party members.
