You Can Swap Out the PlayStation 4 Pro Hard Drive

You Can Swap Out the PlayStation 4 Pro Hard Drive

How much storage is enough with modern systems? Well, when a single game can easily take up 50GB, it really feels like you can never get enough. Especially when some consoles only come with 500GB systems. The PlayStation 4 Pro is a little more accommodating, as it starts with a 1TB hard drive. But if you need even more room, Sony has confirmed you can put in a different internal hard drive.

The PS4 Pro has a SATA III interface. This means you can buy a larger, solid-state drive and pop it in. It will be able to reach speeds up to 6GB/s. You’ll be able to get a new drive, do a transfer, and have something bigger and better in there to keep all of your games on the system at once. But remember to take care and follow the directions when Sony offers them, since you’re actually opening up the system to swap internal storage.

This is actually a more interesting update than it may seem. It helps show the difference and improvement between the PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro. How? The PlayStation 4 only supports SATA II and scales up to 3GB/s. This means bigger and better drive support with the PS4 Pro going forward.
