Final Fantasy XIII Series Details To Come This September

None

Final Fantasy XIII-2 has come and gone. A Final Fantasy VII remake may never come. Final Fantasy Versus XIII may be dead and buried. Any fan of Square Enix’s long-running RPG franchise can tell you that these are some dark times we’re living in these days. So what does the future of the Final Fantasy series hold in store, if anything at all?

Well, according to the publisher itself, we’ll be finding that very information out on September 1. That’s because Square Enix plans to hold a Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary event to be held from August 31 to September 2 in Tokyo.

On the second of those days, SE will be hosting a presentation entitled “Final Fantasy XIII Lightning Saga: New Developments Presentation,” where it promises to reveal the future of the Final Fantasy XIII series. The title’s producer, director, art director, and other staff members are said to be attending the event.

Considering the emphasis the studio is putting on FFXIII and its series protagonist, Lightning, it would appear that the recent rumors of a Final Fantasy XIII-3 title may come to fruition after all.

As for the rest of the 25th Anniversary Event, the first day will be exclusive to members of the press and select members of the Square Enix Members fan club only, while the other two will be open to the public. Besides the FFXIII presentation, September 1 will include a Final Fantasy XI music presentation, and a Final Fantasy XIV stage show which will detail the next revision of that MMO. September 2, meanwhile, will sport a special event celebrating the 15th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII.
