Final Fantasy Fans Get Mixed Announcements

Final Fantasy Fans Get Mixed Announcements

None

Just as a doctor might, Square Enix is doling out a spoon full of sugar in order to help their bad news go down easier. Starting with the bad news first, Square Enix has went back on two previously made statements. First, potentially angering both Japanese PS3 and Xbox 360 owners, Final Fantasy XIII will be coming out on Xbox 360 in that region on December 16, despite the internal claims that it would never happen. The other bad news is that the promised DLC for Final Fantasy XIII no longer exists. Director Motomu Toriyama told Famitsu (via 1Up) “We were planning to make some DLC, but that plan wound up not happening.”

So how does Square Enix make up to fans for these issues? By announcing a sequel to Dissidia: Final Fantasy, of course. Once again coming exclusively to the PSP, Dissidia: Duodecim Final Fantasy 012 will pit another array of Final Fantasy characters against one another in combat. Although details about the title are still slight, two new characters have been revealed. Final Fantasy fighting fans will be able to lay the smackdown with both Lightning from FFXIII and Kain Highwind from FFIV when Duodecim is released in 2011 in Japan, with a US release date expected to come at TGS.
