Lightning Must Not Be Forgotten

Lightning Must Not Be Forgotten

None

The end of Final Fantasy XIII, while not exactly finite, didn’t leave many lingering questions either. However, those who are a member of top-tier of the Square Enix fan club recently got a note in the mail with a picture of Lightning and the words “She must not be forgotten” written next to her portrait.

Now, of course, the logical conclusion here is that Lightning will be making an appearance in the follow-up to last year’s Final Fantasy: Dissidia, and in that way, she will not be forgotten. However, if fan speculation is to be believed, this note is talking about something much bigger, like perhaps a Final Fantasy XIII sequel (akin to Final Fantasy X-2).

This would be an odd time to announce (or even hint) at news like this for Square Enix, as the Final Fantasy series has been having some trouble as of late. With Final Fantasy XIV having continued gameplay and community problems, Final Fantasy XIII: Versus’ development status unknown, and Final Fantasy XIII: Agito in perpetual development limbo, I would say that some of these loose threads should be dealt with before a follow-up to Final Fantasy XIII is even discussed.
