At Saturday’s Video Game Awards, Cliff Bleszinski of Epic Games showed off a trailer of Epic’s new project. And it’s not what any of us expected. Fortnite, as the new game is titled, is one in which players are asked to “scavenge, hunt, build and ultimately survive.” For many people, this description instantly brought Minecraft to mind. However, Minecraft comparisons may not be exactly accurate, as Fortnite sports a cartoony art style similar to Team Fortress 2 and looks to possibly include some tower defense gameplay mechanics. 
Either way, this is definitely a departure for Epic, the studio that released Gears of War 3 earlier this year. Bleszinski even went as far as to assure Joystiq, “There’s no dudebros in it,” an obvious reference to the Gears of War series. I guess that means we can write off any potential Marcus Fenix cameos.
