360 Hits 5 Million Mark in Europe?

None

According to European VP of Marketing for Microsoft, David Gosen, The Xbox 360 has eclipsed the 5 million units sold mark in Europe. Ostensibly, this means that Microsoft has nearly a 750,000 unit edge over Sony. However, it’s difficult to know exactly who’s leading in overall units sold. In fact, many of you may remember Sony European honcho, David Reeves, claim that Sony was winning in Europe several weeks back at PlayStation Day. As such, Microsoft and Sony really are neck and neck.

Although, there have been rumors recently surrounding another significant price drop for the Xbox before the holiday season. With PS3 hardware costing Sony so much to produce it, it is doubtful they will ever be able to compete with Microsoft as far as price point is concerned. Marry cheap hardware with a few “game-changing” announcements at E3 and the Console War for runner-up doesn’t seem to be decided. Here’s what Gosen had to say:

“Anyone trying to call a winner this Christmas is calling too early. We’re always working on new things, and you’ll continue to hear lots from us that we believe will be game-changing.”
