Rumors are circulating that industry giant Activision is looking to perform a shock acquisition of rival publisher Take Two. The last few weeks have been a tumultuous period for Activision, especially since the announcement of the third quarter earnings, which were lower than expected even with the revenue produced by Call of Duty.  The implications of a deal between Activision and Take Two could be huge. Bringing Grand Theft Auto and World of Warcraft under the same roof could prove to be unbelievably profitable, yet some might be alarmed given Activision’s propensity for running franchises into the ground. It may be too early to be either wildly optimistic or pessimistic about the deal thus far, as the two publishers are only “in talks.” Neither Activision nor Take Two offered any comment on the rumor, though it appears this one might be grounded in reality. |
