Alien: Blackout Announced as First Part of Multimedia Project

Fox has finally revealed the rumored Alien: Blackout , and fans have not been reacting to it well. That is because Alien: Blackout is a mobile game, and not the Alien: Isolation sequel folks wanted. However, the game does star Isolation protagonist Amanda Ripley, and Fox has alluded to other projects on the way, including a larger-scale video game.

Teases leading up to the Alien: Blackout reveal included a “read, watch, play” tagline of sorts, suggesting whatever this new wave on content is, it’s going to be some sort of connected transmedia universe of sorts. What seems most likely is that Amanda Ripley will be the hero of all of it, although the connections remain unclear.

What is clear, however, is that Alien: Blackout won’t be the only video game. While this mobile title, which is set to launch on iOS and Android on January 24, 2019 for an upfront price of $4.99, is up first, something bigger is coming. FoxNext is still working on what is described as a “massively multiplayer online shooter set in the Alien cinematic universe” for coonsoles and PC. So fans can look forward to that, and still check out Blackout if they’re curious, which looks somewhat like an Alien -flavored take on the Five Nights at Freddy’s concept.
