On May 19, we’re going to see Alien: Covenant . It’s the sequel to Prometheus and prequel to Alien. But, we’re going to be seeing more than that. We’re also going to get a Xenomorph VR experience. Variety says Fox Innovation Lab is working on something that will complement the movie and give us a firsthand experience with one of horror’s most terrifying creatures.
A release date and exact details regarding this Alien: Covenant compliment aren’t available. However, it sounds more like a game than an experience. When Fox Innovation Lab was discussing it, it said people will be in alien environments and need to make decisions that will determine whether or not they survive. That sounds somewhat similar to the Batman: Arkham VR game.
While Aliens: Colonial Marines was enough to make anyone gun-shy when it comes to Aliens games, we should all remember how good Alien: Isolation was. That was a genuinely creepy game. Imagine if you could have played that in VR. It would have been great. Let’s hope the Alien: Covenant VR experience is a spiritual successor to that!
