Amazon’s $130 Battlefield 1 LE Doesn’t Have the Game

Amazon’s $130 Battlefield 1 LE Doesn’t Have the Game

We’ve reached a point where limited editions of games costing over $100 aren’t uncommon. They happen. But, they also usually include a copy of the game. Amazon ’s latest Battlefield 1 Exclusive Collector’s Edition doesn’t afford you that luxury. Instead, $129.99 gets you a copy of complimentary items that go with the game. It’s not a mistake – the listing very clearly includes the text, “Does not include game.”

It’s really rather funny, when you think of it. The Battlefield 1 Amazon Exclusive Collector’s Edition comes with playing cards, a cloth poster, a 14” statue, a messenger pigeon tube with a code for Battlefield 1 DLC inside of it, a patch, and a Steelbook to hold the copy of the game it doesn’t come with. Because that makes sense. It’s actually identical to the $189.99 standard and $219.99 collector’s editions that do contain the game, if that makes you feel better.

I guess I can see where Amazon is going with this? Maybe this collector’s edition is for people who want to go digital only, but still want that physical swag? I don’t know. I can’t imagine being willing to pay $130 for something that doesn’t have a game with it. But it must serve some sort of purpose, or it wouldn’t exist.
