Bad Ad Fad*

None

Get out your gun; here comes Flo from that Progressive commercial. And while you’re at it, see if you can take a few shots at those Miracle Whip outcasts who will not turn it down.

Bad Ad Fad is the latest fad that allows you to interact with commercials by shooting the offending actors or icons with a lightgun. Hundreds of companies have signed on with the new concept in hopes of getting viewers to watch and interact with commercials instead of flipping channels or leaving the room.

Bad Ad Fad lets you target the most annoying actors and characters in the most annoying commercials. With the lightgun by your side, you’re ready to spring into action at any interruption to your favorite program. Just point and shoot and let the fun begin.

“I have a gun. Your Snuggie will be of little protection.”

Bad Ad Fad filters specially produced, interactive TV commercials through an Xbox 360, PS3, or PC. They are identical to the actual commercials until you start shooting. Specially filmed segments are activated depending on your shooting prowess. Actors may take cover, shoot back, or even die, often with hilarious results. Despite the dramatic turn, the commercial will still continue for the allotted time slot, attempting to maintain a focus on the product or service.

Companies already producing Bad Ad Fad commercials include Coke, Pepsi, Disney, Walmart, Target, J C Penny, Pep Boys, Mentos, Geiko, Sony, and Microsoft.

“We see this is a welcome change to our industry,” says advertising executive Larry Tate Jr. “This is the future, and we are embracing it. Commercials are in danger of not being seen. People tape shows and fast forward the commercials. Or they watch shows on commercial-free Internet sites such as Netflix. Since we all know people hate commercials, why not recognize that and celebrate that hate? We feel that people are going to reconnect with commercials in a fun and entertaining way, thanks to technology and Bad Ad Fad. Who wouldn’t want to put a bullet between the eyes of that guy that hawks the ShamWow?”
