BBC Planning To Create A TV Show Based On GTA

Earlier today, The BBC announced that they are currently planning to create a new TV drama series based off of Rockstar’s popular Grand Theft Auto franchise. This show will be part of a new UK-wide initiate called Make it Digital and is meant to encourage younger audiences to pursue careers in coding, programming, and digital technology. Other brands such as Doctor Who and EastEnders will also receive additional content from this program.

While details are now scarce on what this BBC 2 produced series will portray, there may eventually be some concern over how the target audience may react to this content. Grand Theft Auto is a franchise that is specifically catered to mature audiences and this philosophy doesn’t necessary line up with kids. The producers could go the route of toning down on the violence, sex, and suggestive themes displayed throughout each game. However, doing so would mean that the end protect will be significantly different from the core experiences we all have grown accustomed too.

The BBC has confirmed that more details will be revealed about the series sometime in September.
