BioWare Announces Free Dragon Age Launch-Day DLC and More

None

Yesterday we reported that Turn 10 and Microsoft will be launching additional tracks and cars on launch day. This additional content can be downloaded for free by anyone that purchases the game new.

Over the last several months, game production houses and development studios have been trying to come up with ways to limit the secondary game market (i.e. used games and renting). Apparently, providing a chit for “extra” game content is the path to be trodden.

Today, BioWare announced that two DLC packs will be available at launch. The first, Stone Prisoner, will be made available for free with all new purchases. Players that pick the game up used later on will be able to purchase it for $15 via PSN and the game menu for PC, or for 1200 Microsoft points. The Stone Prisoner add-on brings with it one of the game’s most powerful party members, new areas, achievements, items, and story elements.

The second DLC, Warden’s Keep, will not be free to anyone. It will cost $7 via PSN and the PC’s menu, or for 560 Microsoft points. Warden’s Keep brings new quests, new features (base of operations and additional party storage), new items (Grey Warden Commander armor) and abilities, and even more achievements.

Finally, the Blood Dragon armor previously touted will now be free to every new-game purchaser (Regular or Collector’s Edition). Additionally, the Blood Dragon armor will be unlockable and wearable in Mass Effect 2 if you have purchased and registered both games.

Dragon Age: Origins is set for launch on November 3, 2009 for both PC and Xbox 360, with the PS3 version coming a bit later in the month. More detail on the DLC goodies is featured below in the presser.
